"Thousands of candles can be lighted from a single candle, and the life of the candle will not be shortened. Happiness never decreases by being shared."

- Shakyamuni Buddha

Journal daily

Keep a gratitude journal. Everyday write down details of what you are grateful for.

Practice Humility

You cannot do it all nor can you be truly independent. Reflect on the many things you are dependent on.

Reframe

When you find yourself negatively thinking about someone, or some event, change it to the positive. Reflect on what you could be grateful for.

Avoid complaining

Commit to not complain, gossip, or criticize for one week. If you fail, forgive yourself and try again.

The Path to Gratitude

"We don’t practice to achieve anything—not enlightenment, good karma, a favorable rebirth, or material rewards. We practice simply to give thanks for what we have received." This is a quote from an excellent summary article of Jodo-shinshu Buddhism by Jeff Wilson

Obon Celebration

Yearly summer celebration to remember those who have gone before us and be grateful for those we have now.
